How to Test Your Mouse Online
- Select Start Mouse Test. The test area becomes active.
- Press the left, right and middle buttons. Each detected button should light up and change to Working.
- Test the Back and Forward side buttons if your mouse has them and your browser exposes them as standard mouse buttons.
- Place the pointer over the mouse illustration and scroll up, then scroll down. Both direction indicators should respond.
- Repeat each input a few times. If one button or scroll direction repeatedly fails, retest in another browser or on another computer before concluding the mouse is faulty.

How to Read Your Mouse Test Results
A detected button should light up immediately and its result should change from Not tested to Working. If a button never responds, try the same mouse in another browser before assuming the hardware is faulty.
For the scroll wheel, test both directions several times. Both the up and down indicators should respond. If one direction repeatedly fails, reconnect the mouse, try another USB port if applicable, and retest.
Side buttons can be handled differently by browsers and mouse software. A missing Back or Forward result does not always mean the physical button is broken.
Why Side Buttons May Not Register
Many mice expose the thumb buttons as browser Back and Forward buttons. Some browser or operating-system configurations can intercept those actions. This tester suppresses navigation only while you are using the dedicated test area. If the side buttons do not register, try a current version of Chrome, Edge or Firefox and check your mouse software for custom button mappings.
Mouse Polling Rate vs Browser Pointer Updates
A gaming mouse may advertise 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 4000 Hz or a higher hardware polling rate. This page is primarily a button and scroll input tester and does not certify hardware polling rate. Browser mouse events can be combined, throttled or scheduled differently from raw device reports.
Troubleshooting a Mouse That Fails the Test
- Reconnect a wired mouse or try another USB port.
- Recharge or replace batteries in a wireless mouse.
- Clean around the buttons, wheel and optical sensor.
- Temporarily disable mouse remapping or macro software and retest.
- Test the same mouse in another browser and on another computer if possible.
- If the same button repeatedly fails across devices, the mouse may need repair or replacement.

The main visual tester confirms whether browser button and scroll inputs are detected. If you suspect accidental double clicking, repeat the test in another browser or on another computer and compare the behavior before assuming the switch is faulty.
Why does right-click not open the menu in the test area?
The context menu is disabled only inside the mouse test area so the right button can be tested without interrupting the diagnostic session. Right-click works normally elsewhere on the page.
